The
People of St. James' welcome our new rector, The Rev. Valerie T.
Redpath
On
Sunday, May 4th The Rt. Rev. George E. Councell, Bishop of New
Jersey, officiated at the Institution which included the Sacraments
of Baptism and Confirmation, and formal Reception into the
communion of the Episcopal Church.
More than 200 persons filled the church for this joyous Celebration
of New Ministry. The music program, coordinated by our
Minister of Music, Dr. Jeffrey Unger, featured the extraordinary
voices of our adult and youth choirs, along with trumpeters and
tympanist.
The people of St. James' were moved by the number of local clergy in
attendance and by Bishop Councell's inspirational homily. The parish
joined the Bishop in praying for the 7 new members welcomed into the
fellowship of this communion, the 8 Confirmands, and the 1
newly Baptized. A festive reception, coordinated by the
Hospitality Committee followed in the parish hall. It was
truly a Celebration of New Ministry!
"It is a tremendous privilege to serve Christ in this community,"
observed the Reverend Redpath. "This is a very welcoming
congregation that embraces the opportunity to share beautiful,
uplifting worship and the resources of the members with the entire
community."
